Removing permanent marker

If you have kids, you know that at some point you will have permanant marker on something you don't want it on. Well, here are a few tips I found to take that marker off and keep your from replacing (I hope) a few items...saving that replacement cost out of your budget.
  • From Clothing - try hand sanitizer
  • From Painted Walls - try toothpaste, hairspray or magic eraser
  • From Carpet - try soaking area with white vinegar (let sit) then blotting with towel
  • From Wood - try rubbing alcohol
  • From a stove - try rubbing alcohol
  • From a wood floor - try rubbing alcohol, tea tree oil or toothpaste
  • From skin - try tea tree oil
  • From a laminated surface - try drawing over marks with an expo marker then wiping
I've also been told that sunscreen will work to take it out of many surfaces.
Thanks Four Plus and Angel for most of the tips!
