Popsicle stick braclets

Popsicles are a summer staple and popsicle sticks typically end up in the trash. Here is a great craft idea from Suzy's Artsy Craftsy Sitcom for them, childrens braclets.

Here is what you need for this project:

  • Popsicle sticks

  • Drinking glass (for forming- use a glass with a top opening that is slightly smaller than you want your bracelet to end up)

  • Emery board or sand paper

  • Acrylic paint

  • Stick on jewels (optional)

  • How to make them:
    1. Boil the popsicle sticks for about 30 minutes and then allowed them to sit in the hot water for another 30 minutes. Put sticks inside glasses as per picture below. Once the sticks are formed in the glasses, I allowed them to thoroughly dry overnight and then easily removed them from the glasses.

    2. Gently sand dry sticks with emery board to prep the surface for painting.
    3. Using acrylic paint, paint in any design. The wetter the paint makes the sticks, the more they will open up (which is why you use a smaller glass to form). You can use a hot glue gun to add "bling" if desired.
Thanks Suzy's Artsy Crafty Sitcom for the project and pictures!
