Grow your own garden onions
Looking for a way to save money on your grocery budget...as always...here is yet one more!Did you know that garden onion bulbs will keep producing onion spears all summer long? Garden onions are also a great flower pot item, making it easy for anyone to grow, even those who live in an apartment. I purchase my seeds for $0.33 per pack and plan on it producing the bulk of my onions for the summer. How you do it is plant the seeds and allow them to grow as usual, but when it comes time to "harvest" them, only snip off the green tops above ground. The bulbs will then produce again and again. If you want to get a jump start on this, you can try putting store purchase onions and putting the bulbs in water (as seen below) until they start to grow, then transplant them to your pot.
