Salvaging an overcooked cake

How many time have you put something in the over only for forget to set the timer, or when the timer goes off your kids pull you away before you can grab it out of the oven....only a few I hope. If this happens to you, next time don't throw the cake away. Here is a hot tip from The Happy Housewife of how to save the day (or cake in this case). Simply cut off the overdone edges with your sharp knife and then put your cake in the freezer (for about an hour). Once frozen the crumbly edges are less likely to crumble making a cleaner edge, and it easier to frost any flaws. Viola, a servable cake!
