Frugal Eats - Creamy Salisbury Steak

I love when I find recipes that primarily come from my stockpile. By having a stockpile, I can purchase ingredients when they are at rock bottom prices, and saving on my grocery budget. Here is one of those recipes.

2 lb ground beef (thawed from freezer stockpile)
1 box of chicken stuffing mix (from stockpile)
1 small red onion, finely diced (fresh or thawed from freezer stockpile)
2 small cans of mushrooms (from stockpile)
4 Cup brown gravy (from stockpile packages)
1 container of plain Philly cooking creme (frequent coupon item)
1 C water
2 Tbsp EVOO (from stockpile)
1 tsp garlic powder (from stockpile)
1/2 tsp pepper (from stockile)

Mix ground beef, 1/3 of the diced onion, stuffing mix, garlic powder, pepper and water in a mixing bowl. Mix well, and form small patties. Heat large frying pan to medium heat, using 1 Tbsp EVOO to coat pan. Cook patties in pan for about 3 minutes on each side (till outer layer seals and is browned a bit). Use remaining EVOO to coat cake pan, then put cooked patties into cake pan and set aside. Back in frying pan (do not clean) add in remaining onion and mushrooms, saute till onions are soft. Add gravy and heat to boiling, then simmer till it begins to thicken a bit, and remove from heat. Stir cooking cream into gravy, then pour mixture over patties. Cover cake pan with foil and bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Salisvury steak serves 6 adults when combined with mashed potatoes and a frozen veggie to make a complete meal.

* I do not reccomend adding salt to any part of this recipe. You are using pre-packaged items which are already high in salt and adding salt may may it toooo salty.
This is a modified recipe based of a recipe found on the Kraft website
