Summer entertaiment - use the KISS method

With all the great places and things to do over the summer, we tend to forget that there are lots of simple things we can do at home to keep the kids entertained on a budget. Here are just a few to get your creative memories flowing...
  • Hopscotch - All you need is a $.50 box of chalk, a rock and the sidewalk
  • Bubbles - Buy them for $1 a bottle, or make your own using dish soap
  • Fly a kite - Get one at the dollar store and use it when you have a day with a great wind
  • Play tag, red rover or hide and seek
  • Water fun -
    • Sprinkler
    • Watter balloons
    • Water guns
    • Slip n' slide
  • Catch frogs/bugs/butterflies/lightening bugs
  • Play catch/frisbee
  • Make a rope swing
  • Make a fort out of boxes or blankets
  • Hang a blanket in the doorway (or the swingset) and use it as a stage to do a puppet show
