Ol' Fashoned Ice Cream Sodas

We recently went to Winstead's hamburgers and ordered an ol' fashoned ice cream soda for $4 a person. Of course they were great, and the kids loved them, but there is no way that my budget will allow that price to happen very often. So...I went searching for a DIY recipe to make at home. Here is my version of one I found in a Recipe Lion cookbook that I thought I would share.

Tall soda fountain type glasses with straws and long handled spoons (look for these at old time pottery type of stores)
Fruit flavored ice cream (such as strawberry)
Ginger Ale (can sub with sprite if a sweeter taste is preferred)
Rediwhip
Maraschino cherries (for garnish)

Take the soda glass and put in two scoops of ice cream, pour ginger ale over ice cream. Top glass Rediwhip, then a cherry. Insert straw and long handled spoon to serve.
