DIY Carpet Freshening Powder

If you like to sprinkle powder on your carpet to freshen it up before company arrives, here is a DIY recipe right up your alley. The best part of this DIY recipe is that its cheap and easy to make yourself, plus adding in the DE will help prevent a flea/roach population from populating in your home. Keep in mind that this recipe does not work with some HEPA filter vaccums, check your manual before using.

What you need:
1 box of Baking Soda (any brand)
1/8 Cup Food grade diatomaceous (will be cheapest at farm supply stores)
~2 Tbsp dehydrated citrus zest, ground (you can sub in essencial oils and/or ground cloves for this if you wish)

Mix the above ingredients together being carful not to breath in the powder, then put into a "shaker" type container. Recycled parmesean cheese conatiners work well for this. Sprinkle on carpet and vaccume just like you did the store brands.
