Reconditioning Cast Iron Pans

Cast Iron pans seem to have become a cooking method from the past, which means that you likely have one stashed away, and will frequently find them donated to thrift shops for dirt cheap (making this a great tip for those starting out and needing to purchase pans). That does not mean that these are not GREAT pans to use, but the most common reason people disguard them is because they don't know how to care for them. I Beleive I can Fry has a great step by step tutoral telling you how to take a neglected pan and make it useable again. Click here to go to their tutoral and then dig your out.
