DIY Roman Shades

Looking for custom window coverings that won't break the bank....have you thought about some custom fabric roman shades. By making them yourself, you can decide what material and colors to make them out of, and can make them the exact size for each window.....now upcharge for special sized windows like mine (woo hoo!). If you have traditional drapes in the window currently, you may even be able to recycle the lining from them to make the new shades out of...one less expense in making them. Roman shades are fairly easy to make and only takes a few supplies. You WILL need a sewing machine, but if you don't already have one, consider borrowing one, or even shopping your local thrift stores for one. I have put the suppliy list below to get you started, then you can click here for a full tutoral including pictures to help you.
