DIY Cream Soup

If you have recipes that call for cream of ____ soup, did you know that you could make a version at home out of a stockpile? Of course there are many variations out there, but here is a good one to start out trying, and then tweek it based on your tast preferences.

2 C Powdered milk
3/4 C corn starch
2 Tbsp onion flakes
2 tsp italian seasoning

Mix together and store in an air tight container as this will make multiple batches. When you are ready to make your recipe, open a can (or take out your frozen version) of chicken or vegetable broth and put 1 cup of it into a pan, take out 1/4 cup of the soup mix and stir into broth. If you wish to add celery flakes  for cream of celery (or additional spices) this is a good spot to add it that way you can personalize it for whatever recipe your making. Bring mixture to a boil, then turn down and simmer until thickened, stirring constantly. Allow to cool as necessary. This will equal approximately one can of soup. We like our stuff extra creamy, so I plan to make a double batch.
