Save money on shrimp

Do you have a great recipe that calls for shrimp? Although those great big shrimp look delish, when you really get down to taste, the small ones can be just as delish. Next time you make a receip that calls for shrimp, look at the weight of the shrimp it calls for and skip the size. Instead buy the same weight only of the smaller size shrimp. This alone will save you some cash, because the smaller the shrimp the lower the price per pound. I even have recipes that I use the smallest salad shrimp in, for us, that just means you get more bites with meat in it and I don't have to stop to cut the large pieces up for the kids.

Recipes that work great with small shrimp:
  • Po boy sandwiches
  • Shrimp alfredo
  • Shrimp tacos
  • Gumbo
  • Jambalaya
  • Seafood salad
  • Shrimp cornbread
When to pay the extra for the medium to large size shrimp:
  • Peal and eat shrimp
  • Shrimp coctail
  • Fried shrimp
  • Kebobs
