Cheap school clothes

Summer is peak time for garage sales, but quite often people forget that they should already be shopping for school clothes. Keep in mind that styles change and elastic does not store well when making any purchases. Even if you only grab a few items and mix them with some new ones you buy at the "back to school" sales, that will still save you some cash. Try to focus your hunts on neighborhood sales, so that you can hit multiple sales in the same area in one day. This will save you gas and vehicle wear.

Here are some other items that are great find to look for at garage sales.
  • As seen on TV items. Ever want to know if that $19.99 promo item really works, now you can do it for under $1.
  • Dishes and cooking items (avoid the non-stick surface items). If you need these type of items for your kitchen, this is a great way to get them for a good price.
  • Sporting equipment
  • Exercise equipment (way cheaper than a gym membership, hint hint)
  • Baby items. Typically these are grown out of long before they are worn out.
  • School clothes. Look for "timeless" items such as basic jeans, sweaters, turtlenecks, button down shirts, polos etc. Look for brands that your kids will wear, and that wear well such as Carters, Levi, Osh Kosh etc.
  • Sheets, towels etc that can be used as material for other sewing projects
