Fizzing sidewalk paint

Are you looking for something to keep the young kids busy this summer. Here is a great idea from Quirky momma for fizzing sidewalk paint.

To make your own fizzing sidewalk chalk you need:

  • A container of baking soda
  • 1/2 cup of cornstarch
  • Warm (almost hot) Water
  • Food coloring
  • Vinegar in a spray bottle
Mix the dry ingredients and then add water stirring until its not too thick. I think we used about a cup.  This is a fast drying mixture so mix it in a container that you can easily re-seal.

Now for the fun!  Allow the kids to paint the sidewalk, let dry then spray the paint with a bottle of vinegar and watch the fizz appear.

To clean up, simply dump copious amounts of water over "art", once sidewalk is dry you can start again.
