Travel tip #9 - JIC bag

Tip #9 - When traveling it is good to have a "Just In Case" (JIC) bag. This is often an extra carry on bag or tote that has some of the following items in it. Being prepared will help you avoid paying $4 for a travel size package of bandaids etc just because you have to.
  1. Small first aid kit - JIC someone gets hurt or sick
    1. Bandaids
    2. Antibiotic ointment packets
    3. Diaper cream (even if you don't have kids, this works food for chafing)
    4. Antiacid
    5. Motion sickness meds
    6. Laxitives (for after you arrive)
    7. 48 hours of medicine for each family member having prescriptions
    8. Earplanes (I am told these are great for kids if flying - http://www.cirrushealthcare.com/faq.aspx#WhatEar)
  2. Extra underware and socks for the entire family, plus pants for those freshly potty trained - JIC you get stuck in an airport or some one has an accident
  3. Snacks - JIC someone gets hungry during an unschedule stop or to help with ears "popping"
    1. Gum for adults and older children (to help with ears)
    2. Suckers for the kids (to help with ears)
    3. Granola bars (just in case you can't make it to the next stop without eating)
    4. Raisins (typically travel constipates people, so raisins make a good snack)
  4. Busy activites - JIC the crew and airplane movie isn't enough..
    1. Books
    2. Music and/or audio books
    3. Coloring items
    4. Deck of playing cards & set of dice (you can play tons of games with just this)
    5. Travel sized kids games (magnetic ones work best)
    6. Don't forget your headphones!
