Travel tip #13 - Arrive early

If you are planning on flying for your vacation, my best advice is arrive early. Most airlines will tell you two hours is the preferred time to alot. In our Kansas City terminal, typically I try to make it to the parking lot about two hours before my flight. I seem to have plenty of time to unload the vehicle, take the shuttle, check in, clear security and wait to board without any trouble. If you are traveling home from a larger domestic airport, be sure to allow NO LESS than two hours. For overseas flights home, I recommend NO LESS than three or four hours. You might also consider calling to confirm your flight the morning that you leave to ensure that no changes have been made. We once arrived at the airport in Las Vegas only to find out that our flight was cancelled. We had been moved to a later flight and could have spent two more hours in our beds...grrr! Through all the check points and passport checks, please keep in mind that it is not the screeners fault that the rules are in place, it is their job simply to enforce them. Keep a positive attitude and have you stuff ready to put in the bins and life will be a little brighter for both of you.
