Gear you will need:
- Tent (if you do not have a tent consider renting a cabin or yurt at a nearby campground)
- Sleeping bags
- Long johns and warm socks to sleep in
- Fire ring or portable grill
- Flashlights
- Bug spray
- Food
Fun camping activities:
- Making smores
- Looking at the stars (it is helpful to check out a book with the constellations from the library)
- Sing campfire songs. If you have a guitar, better yet!
- Flashlight tag
- Bug races
- Ghost stories
- Grill hot dogs (quick and easy, and kids love them)
- Slice potatoes with onions and add garlic butter wrap in foil and grill (takes longer than meats, so plan ahead)
- Wrap apple slices with some butter, brown sugar and cinnamon in foil and grill
- Make veggie kabobs, be sure to get the kids involved and let them make their own. Often children will surprise you in what they will eat if they put it on their own kabob.
